1. Schedule a tour of the campus
Contact the Admissions Office to arrange an initial visit to St. John's. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to meet the Head of School, Tom Stevens, and the Director of Admissions, Margaret Curry. You will receive a tour of the campus and facilities, as well as observe classes in session.
2. Complete the Application and Parent Questionnaire
There are several ways to obtain our Application materials:
There is a non-refundable $75 application fee for each student. St. John's accepts checks or credit card.
3. Schedule a Student Visitation/Shadow Day
Preschool/3 and 4
Applicants will attend a Preschool Playdate on a Saturday, February 21 at 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. During the visit, teachers will observe and interact with the children as they play with each other and visit various activity stations in the classroom. Parents are required to stay for this visit, which will last approximately 45 minutes.
Applicants will attend a Kindergarten Assessment on a Saturday, February 21 at 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. During the visit, teachers and administrators will observe and interact with the children as they play with each. Your child will also be individually assessed with activities which will help us determine their Kindergarten readiness. Parents are asked to drop off their child and return for them after 1 hour.
Grades 1 - 8
Students applying to enter grades 1 - 8 will come to St. John's on a full regular school day and follow a shadow guide from their current grade. During the prospective student's visit, the school will complete an assessment of the student's skills and abilities.
Note: Based on the school's assessment, additional testing may be requested.
4. Submit Teacher Recommendations
Teacher recommendation forms are required for all students who are currently enrolled in a preschool or K-8 school. Teacher Recommendation forms are also included in the Application packet or online (Grades K - 1: One form required; Grades 2 - 8: Two forms required).
5. Submit School Transcipts
Transcipts are required for all students applying to Grades 1 - 8. A Transcipt Release form is included in the Application packet or you may download the Transcript Release form.
6. Enrollment Decisions
Once all steps are completed, the Admissions Team will make a decision based on multiple factors, including the student’s transcripts, teacher recommendations, assessment results, school visit and the availability of space in the grade that the student is applying.
Application deadline: February 1.
Applications received by February 1 will be given first consideration, with decisions to be mailed by the beginning of March. Applications received after February 1 will be considered on a rolling basis, depending on class openings.
Current Parents - New Student Referral Incentive Program
Our Student Referral Incentive Program, allows current parents to receive a tuition credit of up to $1,000 when they refer a new student, who enrolls at St. John's. Click here to download the application and information form.
