Kindergarten - 8th Grade - The following steps will guide you through the application process:
1. Schedule a tour of the campus
Contact the Admissions Office or complete an online inquiry to arrange an initial visit to the School. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to meet the Head of School, Tom Stevens, and the Director of Admissions, Margaret Curry. You will receive a tour of the campus and facilities, as well as observe classes in session.
2. Request an Application Packet
There are several ways to obtain our Application. We are happy to mail an Admissions packet to you; please call the Admissions Office at 301-774-6804. Alternatively, you may download the Admissions Application or complete the Application on-line. If you choose to download the application or complete it on-line, please download and submit our Parent Questionnaire.

3. Schedule a Student Visitation/Shadow Day
Students in Grades 1 - 8 will come to St. John's on a full regular school day and have a shadow guide from their current grade. During the prospective student's visit, the school will complete an assessment of the student's skills and abilities.
Kindergarten Assessment Day - Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 8:30 a.m.- All applicants must attend this event, which will give teachers an opportunity to assess your child. Application MUST be completed and submitted prior to the visit. Please RSVP to the Admissions Director. For Kindergarten applications received after the March 1 deadline, there will be a spring Kindergarten Assessment Day (TBA).
Note: Based on the school's assessment, additional testing may be recommended.
4. Submit Teacher Recommendations and School Transcripts
Teacher recommendation forms are required for all students who are currently enrolled in a preschool or K-8 school. Transcripts are also required for all students applying to Grades 1 - 8. Transcript Request forms are included in the Application packet or online (click here). Teacher Recommendation forms are also included in the Application packet or online (Grades K - 1: One form required; Grades 2 - 8: Two forms required).
5. Enrollment Decisions
Once all steps are completed, the Admissions Team will make a decision based multiple factors, including the student’s transcripts, teacher recommendations, assessment results, school visit and the availability of space in the grade that the student is applying. Admission decisions are mailed mid-March and on a rolling basis thereafter.
