Lower School Teacher Spotlight
1st Grade Teacher, Mrs. Bayarena
Meet Elaine Bayarena, who has been teaching 1st Grade at St. John’s Episcopal School for three years. Mrs. Bayarena is originally from Baltimore and attended Towson State College (now Towson University), earning her degree in Early Childhood Education. She lives with her husband, Homero, and 16 year old son, Emilio. Mrs. Bayarena comes from a family of girls, with 3 sisters! She likes to read, cook and bake, and take Zumba classes with her husband who is an instructor. Her favorite foods are Mexican and chocolate! Being a loyal Baltimorean means her favorite sports team is the Ravens. If she had tons of time on her hands, she’d like to travel back to Hawaii, visit Alaska, and go to New York City to see Broadway shows. A fun fact is that Mrs. Bayarena spends her summers working behind the scenes on musical productions by the Glyndon Area Players. Her greatest wish for her students is that they always enjoy reading and learning. She also wants them to grow up to be individuals who have a positive attitude and treat others with kindness and respect.
